Matt first picked up a guitar in 1996. He quickly fell in love with the way he could make the instrument sound.  Matt taught himself for the first 5 years of playing, using technique books and chord charts.  After learning all he could on his own, Matt signed up for music theory.  During this time, he played in several high school bands.

Going into college, Matt found many other musicians to perform with. He honed in his skills in this arena, learning “stagemanship” and how to collectively write and create songs.

Matt has been inspired by all genres of music, from classic rock and oldies to hardcore and metal.

As of March 2009, Matt has joined forces with Josh Jones to help build and form The Jones Machine
