Dusty’s Bio

 

Hey guys… thanks for checking us out. I’m Dusty Johnson, born and raised in Pickens SC. For those of you that know where that is, I promises I’m not a “Redneck”.  I was chosen to be the drummer for “The Jones Machine” after 3 weeks of auditions.  I am 20 years young and actually the youngest member of the band!  i have been steadily playing the drums for 17 years.  Music runs in my blood. i grew up around all types of music in my life.  My dad and his dad are both accomplished musicians which made me strive to learn more about the drums.  I also play guitar, bass, trumpet and cow bell. We always need more of that!

Growing up with my dad listening to a lot of different styles of music, really helped to develop my style.  Listening to people like Dennis Chambers, Carlos Vega, Steve Gadd, Venny Caliuta, Dave Wekel.

As I got older I started narrowing my style down.  I started listening to people like Tony Royster Jr and Aron Spears, but I would honestly have to say my most influenced / Favorite drummer would have to be Carter Beauford with “DMB”.  I have the up most respect for his playing.
